After two accidents, the city had ordered crane work to stop at 22 New York City construction sites - one of which was crushed to death - on a crane operated by the same company. The Long Island City-based company, which operates in the office building of the Long Island City of Tishman Island (known as the Coney Island Development Zone of JACX and Cammeby International), was hit by five violations by the Ministry of Construction, including inadequate site safety measures. It faces a fine of up to $110,000.

According to the New York Daily News, the first incident occurred in April when a construction worker died after crushing a crane component at 570 Broome Street near the Dutch tunnel. Another worker was injured in the incident. Then, two weeks ago, according to the construction department, the crane operator of the 749 FDR Drive lost control of the machine after lifting the load beyond its capacity. According to the TRD, the crane bends the crane after lifting a load of 700 pounds and hits the side of the building before hitting the ground.
